length
With 31,494 km² in area, 636 km long, 80 km wide and 1,680 m deep (recognized so far), Lake Baikal is the largest freshwater lake in Asia and the deepest in the world.

Interesting fact
Although there are others of greater surface, this is the deepest freshwater lake in the world and, by far, the largest volume. It has been called in several ways, but the name that has lasted until today is Baikal, which possibly means "rich lake" or "sea". In fact, because it is so immense and so changing, the fishermen of its coasts sometimes speak of "going out to sea".
